Please remember: You should not use the authorised absence system to request an absence during an assessment or exam period. In this instance, please contact your School/Department without delay, as you may need to submit an application for Extenuating Circumstances.
How to request an absence
Via the student intranet:
- Access the Absence page'
- Click the blue 'Request a new absence' button in the top right corner of the screen.
- In the new window complete the short form to give the dates and reason for the absence. You can add further information to support your request. You may be asked to upload supporting documentation.
- Once you’ve added all the relevant information, click the blue ‘Submit’ button.
Via the My Liverpool mobile app:
- Log on to the 'My Liverpool' mobile app using your MWS username and password.
- Tap on the three-line menu icon then select 'Absences' from the list.
- To request a new absence, tap the 'Request an absence' tab from the top toolbar and then follow Steps 4 and 5 as outlined above.
Depending on the nature of your absence request, it may be automatically approved or referred to your School/Department for review, which can take up to three working days for you to receive a response. You can check the table of requests for updates on their status. You will also receive absences request status updates via your University email account.
