Sailing
Welcome to the University of Liverpool Sailing club
The Sailing club is a friendly club which takes pride in encouraging sailing at every level. So whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced racer, there is something for everybody!
Competitive
We train at West Kirby Sailing Club, a world-renowned venue for team racing. Each year they host a variety of competitions in which we partake, such as Oktoberfest, the Lavinia Rose Bowl, and the Wilson Trophy. As well as this, we travel to university team racing events across the country, which is a brilliant opportunity to not only meet other teams but to explore other cities.
We own six of our own Fireflies - double-handed boats used mainly for team racing. There are both helming and crewing opportunities available, and we often send multiple teams to a single event so there’s always an opportunity to get involved!
Training is on Wednesdays and Saturdays at West Kirby and we offer a steady transition from fleet racing to team racing if you aren’t an experienced team racer yet. Any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Social events
Sailing is such a friendly, unique, and enjoyable sport where there are many opportunities for everyone. We are a fun-loving club and host regular socials off the water too! If you’d just like to come along to our socials and meet new people, then please keep an eye on the group chat and social media pages. There’s no pressure to come sailing if you’d just like to come meet us and have a drink or take part in other activities. Feel free to message us anytime we’d be eager to welcome you!
