Karate
Welcome to the University of Liverpool Karate team
We are a student-led, all-ability club which means whether you have been training in karate for years or you have barely heard "wax-on, wax-off" there is a place for you in the karate club. In fact, 50% of our committee members started Karate at Liverpool.
Competitive
We run two training sessions a week taught by two external KUGB-accredited senseis. The sessions are focused on building your skills in the three main areas of karate - Kihon, Karat and Kumite.
The club offers members the opportunity to 'Grade' up to three times a year. In addition to this we regularly attend karate competitions such as the Student Championships, Varsity, and BUCS, in which all members are encouraged but not obligated to take part.
Training times
We train three times a week at the Sports & Fitness Centre:
Day | Time |
---|---|
Monday | 8.30-10.00pm |
Wednesday | 8.00-10.00pm |
Social event
Not only is karate an excellent way to learn self-defence and discipline it is also an excellent way to meet new and like-minded people. We are a very friendly club with lots of different socials held throughout the year and we can routinely be found in the pub for a well-earned drink after training.
