Futsal
Welcome to the University of Liverpool Futsal club
Futsal is a variant of football, popular in South America and across Europe which is played on a smaller inside court with 5 players per side. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the world currently. Here at The University of Liverpool we are continuing this growth and have a hugely progressing society, including winning the most improved club of the university last year, so come along and try out futsal!
Competitive
We currently compete with two teams in BUCS, including a hugely successful first team, which currently competes in the BUCS 1a division and a second team competing in BUCS 3a. Our first team has achieved 3 promotions in 4 years and missed out on goal difference last year to be promoted to the Premier division, after going unbeaten in the league. Our honors include:
- BUCS 3a and 4a league titles 2020
- BUCS 2a league title 2022
- BUCS 1 North league title 2023
- Christie Cups 2021 & 2022
- Varsity 2022
- BUCS conference Cup 2020
Training times
Both our teams train together every Thursday and Friday 8-10pm at The University sports hall. These are closed sessions for our competitive teams.
However, we do offer a turn up and play session every Thursday 7-8pm, also in the sports hall which is free to anyone to attend. Further to this we run a campus futsal league every Saturday at 11-12am run by the committee. To register a team please DM the instagram at LivFutsal or email @hljkind@liverpool.ac.uk
Our club is lucky to have a fantastic team of coaches led by Joe Ryan who is a UEFA B and experienced coach of the game who achieved the AU coach of the year in 2023. As well as this we have a further 2 coaches and 7 committee members who do a fantastic job in running our club.
This year we will be looking to relaunch a women's team and are keen to add this to our club, if you would like to sign up, do so on this link!
Social
As well as our commitment to performance our side also offers a large variety of social events run by our social secs and attending the AU social nights. These socials are both for the competitive teams only and include a variety of nights out and other social activities (not limited to nights out).
