About the International Criminological Research Unit (ICRU)

ICRU encompasses a team of academic researchers in criminology, criminal justice, socio-legal studies, and criminal law.

Established in October 2014, ICRU is dedicated to advancing high-quality research and postgraduate training in criminology, criminal justice, and related areas of harm.

Our core mission focusses on developing innovative theoretical and empirical knowledge, promoting cutting-edge research methodologies, and supporting impactful, evidence-based interventions. We actively collaborate with academic, policy, and practice communities to foster knowledge exchange and extend public understanding of pressing criminological issues.

ICRU achieves its mission by hosting international visiting scholars, coordinating seminars and conferences, building global research partnerships, and fostering a vibrant community of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers. Through these activities, we strive to lead in criminological research and contribute to meaningful social change.
