Criminal Justice Unit launch: Political change and criminal justice in Liverpool and beyond

The School of Law and Social Justice are inviting academics, criminal justice professionals and leaders in social justice to join us for the launch of our new research cluster, the Criminal Justice Unit. The CJU seeks to bring together key perspectives on criminal justice systems and to produce world-leading, agenda-setting, and impactful criminal justice research. The group, which is made up of researchers from a range of disciplines, including law, sociology, criminology, history, geography, psychology, management and philosophy, offers expertise in areas including but not limited to prosecution, courts and sentencing; probation; policing; gender-based violence; extremism; prisons and corrections; recidivism; rehabilitation; and the impact of the criminal justice system on marginalised groups. The event is an opportunity for local and national stakeholders to learn about key criminal justice research taking place across the University of Liverpool.
Current Trends in the Law of Financial Crime

Legal responses to financial crime have been fast growing and multi-faceted. The seminar will address key recent developments in the field and evaluate the challenges they poses for regulators and courts. Contributions will provide an updated critical analysis of the evolution of anti-money laundering and confiscation law; of the regulation of virtual currencies for AML purposes; and of the development of an anti-kleptocracy regime. The seminar will be of interest to multiple audiences, including academics, advanced students and practitioners.
