Innovations, like AI and blockchain, are reshaping every aspect of life, from decision-making to finance and governance. These technologies offer significant benefits, such as enhancing democratic participation and creativity, but also pose risks, related to surveillance and exploitation.
Our members critically examine these challenges, addressing the legal, ethical, and social implications of digital advancements. Through interdisciplinary research and teaching, we aim to equip scholars and students to engage with and navigate the evolving tech-driven landscape.
The Centre aims to support the University’s strategic priorities by supporting interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in digital technologies in social sciences; integrating postgraduate researchers into its research culture and activities; and pursuing internationalisation and widening participation.
