Biography
Ellie obtained a 2:1 in BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Liverpool in 2023. She graduated with a Merit in Social Research Methods from the University of Liverpool in 2024 with a merit.
Ellie began her PhD in November 2024, on the 1+3 ESRC-funded MA and PhD in Sociology programme. Her research aims to investigate the socio-demographic and socio-economic profiles of former UK Armed Forces personnel, focusing on employment, education and earnings, to explore how their lives can be critically understood in relation to social class.
Research
Ellie's main research focus is class, military studies, and social inequality. She is also interested in intersectionality and how social identities such as race, gender, age, and other factors may influence power, access to resources, and opportunities, particularly in the context of veterans.
Additionally, Ellie is interested in the theoretical and methodological approaches used to study the military, particularly how military institutions, military personnel, and military practices are examined, and thereby what research is produced surrounding this topic.
