Dr Gemma Ahearne and Dr Shuai Wei, Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, alongside Matt Jones and Moira McCaul, also received the Team Award for their radical pilot approach to the SOCI106 module. As part of the first-year social research methods module, students from the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology worked in teams to propose solutions to tackle digital poverty in the Liverpool City Region and across the Northwest.
Students were set real-life challenges to solve which utilised academic research skills and worked with data on digital inclusion provided by project partners, LCR Civic Data Co-operative and the LCR Combined Authority. The teaching team’s collaborative efforts have significantly enriched the academic journey and future career opportunities for students.
These awards celebrate the innovative approaches that have improved both the academic and professional experiences of students, highlighting the exceptional efforts of both academic and professional services teams.
