Faculty beats 2024 fundraising goals
2024 has been a banner year for our Faculty's fundraising efforts, with staff and students coming together to raise an incredible £3,891 for our chosen charity, the Owen McVeigh Foundation. Despite setting an initial goal of £1,000 due to a late start, we smashed through that target nearly fourfold, demonstrating the spirit, creativity, and dedication of everyone involved.
Fundraising Highlights
A diverse range of events brought our community together in support of this fantastic cause:
- Anfield Abseil: Faculty office staff braved the rain to abseil down Anfield Stadium, raising an impressive £1,065.
- School of Engineering Event: A creative effort from the School of Engineering contributed a remarkable £784.
- Staff Sports Day: The Faculty’s sports enthusiasts didn’t just dominate on the field but also raised £548 during a day filled with activities and fun.
- Faculty Raffle: Generosity shone through in the raffle, which raised £482.
- Santa Dash: Kathryn Knuckey suited up for the city centre Santa dash and raised £355 for the cause.
- School of Physical Sciences Fete: A fete organized by the School of Physical Sciences brought in a fantastic £324.
- Bingo Event: Faculty hub staff hosted a lively bingo event, raising £120.
- Bake Sale and Christmas Jumper Day: Staff from the School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Sciences combined festive attire with delicious treats to raise £109.
- Sponsored Christmas Jumper Day: The Faculty Hub wrapped up the year with a cozy Christmas jumper day, raising an additional £105.
Staff Sports Day Success
One of the year’s most exciting events was the Staff Sports Day, held on Wednesday 11 September. Our Faculty not only won the shield by dominating activities like Pickleball—where Chao Long of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Ryan Swinney from Sport Liverpool were unstoppable—but also clinched victory through our outstanding fundraising contributions. This triumph means the coveted shield will remain with us until next summer’s event—where we’re determined to defend our title!
A Heartfelt Thank You
The Faculty would like to extend its deepest gratitude to everyone who organized, participated in, or donated to our fundraising efforts. Whether you abseiled, dashed, baked, or simply cheered from the sidelines, your contributions made a real difference.
With 2024’s achievements behind us, our sights are set on 2025. Fundraising will begin soon for a new chosen charity from the University’s Liv to Give framework.
