Faculty success in 2025 Complete University Guide

In a significant achievement for the Faculty, eight of our subject areas have now been ranked in the top 20 in the 2025 Complete University Guide (CUG) – along with the University as a whole climbing to 18th. This marks a notable improvement of six places compared to the previous year, representing the highest-ever ranking for the university in this prestigious table.

The main league table, which encompasses ten key measures including entry standards, research quality, and graduate prospects, features 130 institutions. Annually, the Complete University Guide releases these rankings to aid prospective students in making well-informed decisions about their academic futures.

School of Engineering:

Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering jumped two spots to secure the 11th position, while General Engineering advanced by two places to secure the 9th rank. Mechanical Engineering also climbed two places to reach 18th, while Manufacturing and Product Engineering maintained its 19th position.

School of Physical Sciences:

Chemistry witnessed a notable improvement, rising by nine places to secure the 18th position.

School of Electronic Engineering, Electronics, and Computer Science:

Both Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Electronics made strides, with Computer Science climbing three places to 31st and Electrical Engineering and Electronics securing the 17th spot, up by five places.

School of Environmental Sciences:

Geography and Environmental Sciences rose by four places to secure the 28th position, and Geology climbed four places to reach the 17th rank. These join Town and Country Planning and Landscape Design where we are currently ranked 12th.

These rankings underscore the exceptional performance of our Schools and Departments, reaffirming our status as a leading institution in higher education.
