Prue graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1993, undertaking surgery specialist training at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and becoming a Diplomate of the American and European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000. She worked across a range of private referral practices until 2023, enjoying working alongside a wide range of specialist and general practitioners. She has been a member of committees for the RCVS Surgery certificate and ECVS Surgery Diploma exams, as well as the previous RCVS Surgery Board. After greatly enjoyed teaching post-graduate surgical skills to both residents and general practitioners since 1999, Prue returned to academia in 2023 to expand her teaching to include undergraduate students. Alongside her clinical interests, Prue has a strong interest in the interactions between workplace culture, clinical governance and mental health.

Clinical Interests

All aspects of soft tissue surgery with a special interest in:

  • Surgical Oncology
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Brachycepahlic obstructive airway syndrome

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Theoretical and Clinical teaching of surgical skills and general soft tissue surgery to 3rd, 4th & 5th year veterinary undergraduate students
  • Clinical training of intern and residents in all aspects of soft tissue surgery

Research Interests

  • Surgical Oncology
  • Interaction of human factors, clinical governance and mental health in veterinary teams
