Cardiology suite
The cardiology suite is equipped with advanced technology allowing investigation of a full range of heart problems from episodic collapse to congenital cardiac disease.
Echocardiography is the main tool for investigating heart murmurs and structural or functional abnormalities of the heart. We have a GE Vivid 7 Doppler ultrasound machine for this purpose, with detailed analysis of scans carried out by the Echopac computer. This is capable of advanced analysis of the heart muscle function including Tissue Doppler Imaging and Speckle Tracking Echocardiography.
Digital ECG recording, Doppler and oscillometric blood pressure monitoring are also available. For patients with intermittent arrhythmias, Holter monitoring allows continuous ECG recording during the animal’s daily activities. Certain arrhythmias can be treated with the Medtronic Lifepak 20e Defibrillator. This, together with a dedicated temporary pacing system, can be utilised prior to permanent pacemaker implantation.
