Making an Impact 2021 Twitter Competition
During Making an Impact 2021, 10 May - 11 June, we invite you to tweet a thought on how a session inspired your development (text or video testimonial welcomed) or a gif representing your engagement with any of the events during the programme. Specific questions regarding the topics covered that week will also be asked via Twitter and discussed in an informal chat at the end of each week. Your input and thoughts will be welcomed. One winner will be selected each week and will receive an online retail voucher.
How to enter the competition
Tweet a thought (text or video) on how a session during Making an Impact 2021 has inspired your development or a gif that represents your engagement with any of the sessions. Use the hashtag #unilivimpact21

Rules
- Multiple entries are accepted but please refrain from using multiple accounts
- Duplicate posts, or near duplicate, will not be included in the prize draw
- Graphic and adult content and copyright infringement is a violation of Twitter Rules and will be reported/removed according to the Terms of Service
- Disclaimer: Whilst many scholars appreciate having their name, photograph and associated work shared via social media, others would prefer their work to not be shared. Presenters have been asked to state clearly at the beginning of their presentations whether or not they give consent for sharing their content via social media. Therefore, as a participant, you are specifically requested to respect the presenters’ preferences and only share content if permission has been given to do so.
Closing date
One winner will be chosen at random using Tweetdraw after the close of each week (10-28 May & 7-11 June) during Making an Impact 2021, and notified by email. Entries close 5pm Friday 11 June 2021.

Twitter Gif Awards - Bronze, Silver, Platinum and Diamond
Gifs have been designed to recognise and value individuals who engaged with #unilivimpact21 on Twitter between 10 May - 11 June and to those individuals that fully engage with a number of different sessions. Any tweets may be used to help publicise future Making an Impact events. Don’t forget that you must tag @LivResearcher in your tweets.

Research in Verse Competition
As part of Making an Impact 2021, the Literature and Science Hub have teamed up with the Sciku Project and science-poetry expert Sam Illingworth for a new poetry competition
To enter you must write a poem about research in any subject occurring at the University of Liverpool. It can be about your own research or an area of research at the University you find interesting.
Prizes - (sponsored by the Academy and the Sciku project)
- First Prize : Adorn your bookshelves! The judges will each choose their favourite book about the relationship between poetry, the arts and the sciences and we'll send you all five. You'll also get a £50 gift voucher .
- Second prize: A Sonnet to Science: Scientists and Their Poetry by Sam Illingworth; A Spray of Hope by the Literature and Science Hub, one judge-chosen favourite book on Literature and Science and a £10 gift voucher.
- Third prize: One judge-chosen book on Literature and Science and a copy of A Spray of Hope
A collection of the best poems will be published on The Science and Literature Hub website and on The Sciku Project.
How to enter
Please submit your poem as a MS Word document to with the subject line ‘Research in Verse’ by the end of Monday 7 June 2021 to writingcomp@liverpool.ac.uk. Please include your name, your role at the university and a brief description of the research that inspired your poem (less than 100 words). Poems can be anything from a Haiku to 40 lines long. If you are stuck for inspiration sign up for one of the Making an Impact sessions below.
Winners will be announced in the week of the 14 June 2021.

Friday 14 May 11:00-12:30 – ‘Rhyme your Research’ – Discover the benefits of writing poetry about research and take the first steps of your poetry journey. Register here.

Certificates of Participation
For each session you register and attend you can request a certificate of participation that you can upload to your portfolios of activity on TULIP so that you can have a record of all the development activities you have engaged with.
The University has an updated Statement of Expectations for Principal Investigators (PIs) and Research Staff which ensures a minimum of 10 days pro rata, per year, for researchers to engage with professional development opportunities.
