The Quantum GX is a high-resolution system which not only allows generation of in vivo images of bones, but also enables imaging of soft tissue including tumours, the cardiovascular system, and the pulmonary system. The µCT is very flexible and allows the performance of rapid scans with low doses of radiation, as well as longer high-resolution scans. This means that the system is ideal for both in vivo high-throughput, longitudinal studies, as well as for high-resolution ex vivo scanning.
Below are examples of videos taken using the system.
- Kidney Imaging
High resolution CT imaging demonstrating the kidney vasculature as well as glomeruli. The images are of a perfused mouse kidney using Microfil® as a dye.
- Anatomy of Trout
High resolution ex vivo images of a trout specimen showing the external and internal anatomy
- Internal Anatomy of Trout
High resolution images showing the skull and vertebral column of an ex vivo trout fish
- High resolution CT imaging demonstrating the anatomy of a fruit bat
Currently active projects:
- Measurement of pulmonary fibrosis in mice
- Soft tissue imaging of Egyptian fruit bat
- Skeletal analysis of trout
