QUASARs attend the annual Cockcroft Institute Postgraduate Conference
This week saw the Cockcroft Institute host its’ annual Postgraduate Conference and the QUASAR group was there representing the University of Liverpool. The event comprises of 10 minute presentations from 2nd, 3rd and 4th year PhD students on their research. There is a panel of judges which provide feedback to the students, this is comprised of a delegate from each of the member institutes of the Cockcroft Institute, and representing Liverpool this year was the QUASAR Dr. Lee Devlin.
Although not allowed to present, all of our new QUASARs were in attendance to soak up as much knowledge as possible from their more experienced counterparts. Our only student available to present was the 2nd year Joseph Wolfenden. He can be seen below presenting his work from the past year on optimizing a type of optical diagnostic, which can be used to measure incredibly small particle beams, possibly in the next generation of particle accelerators around the world.
