Job Offer: Research Coordinator in Beam Diagnostics

Published on

The QUASAR Group carries out a broad and interconnected research programme into advanced diagnostics for charged particle beams. This includes monitors for profile, intensity, beam loss and position measurements.

We are currently looking for an experienced researcher who will lead and coordinate our research into optical diagnostics for conventional and in particular so-called novel accelerators.

Work will include studies into emittance measurement in space charge dominated beams, pulse length and profile measurements for novel accelerators with a focus on the AWAKE experiment, as well as ultra-high resolution, high dynamic range profile measurements. Experimental measurement campaigns at partner institutions will be part of the role.

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline and a long-standing background in beam diagnostics R&D, demonstrated by an excellent publication track record. Moreover, they should be experienced in working independently within an international environment. The demonstrated ability to train and supervise students will be an asset.

The application deadline is 11 July. The post is available until 23 September 2017 and application is via the following link:
