The QUASAR Group has welcomed Saransh Malhotra as PhD student within the LIV.INNO CDT, following his recent graduation from Cardiff University with a Master’s in Compound Semiconductor Physics in September 2024. Saransh previously earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics with Honours from Chandigarh University in 2022.

During his master’s studies, Saransh focused on the simulation and parametric enhancement in Red Silicon Single-Photon Avalanche Diodes (Si SPADs) for his thesis. This project not only honed his skills in semiconductor physics but also deepened his interest in the intersection of physics and engineering.

Saransh's current research project, titled "Preparation and Characterisation of ‘Green’ Photocathodes for the Generation of High-Brightness Electron Beams," builds on his academic foundation, aiming to develop environmentally friendly photocathodes. These materials have the potential to revolutionize the production of high-brightness electron beams, crucial for various applications in scientific research and technology.

Beyond his academic achievements, Saransh has demonstrated a consistent curiosity about the practical applications of physics, driving him to explore both theoretical and experimental aspects of semiconductor technologies. His background reflects a blend of rigorous academic training and a forward-looking approach to solving some of today's most pressing technological challenges.

Welcome!
