Open research position in Tumor Tracking in Particle Therapy at CNAO

An opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated early stage researcher is available at the CNAO in Pavia, Italy. This 11 month research position is focused on Tumor tracking in particle therapy. Particle therapy with protons is a significant and growing research area in the field of cancer treatment. The role includes the development and clinical implementation of a tumor tracking system for active beam scanning particle therapy at CNAO. You will lead the challenging technological and methodological activities of the final year of this project.
Candidates should have a background in biomedical engineering or medical physics. Experience with in time-resolved in biomedical imaging (4D-CT, 4D-MRI, 4D-PET) and/or in motion tracking systems is highly desirable.
This opportunity is part of the Optimisation of Medical Accelerators (OMA) Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Initial Training Network. You will join this innovative network and have the opportunity to work with leading medical accelerator research institutes and industrial partners across Europe, participating in research-focused workshops and training schools.
To be eligible for this post, you must be in the first four years of your research career and not yet have been awarded your doctoral degree. This position is particularly relevant to PhD students who are near completion of their research but have not yet received their PhD. Please note, researchers are normally required to undertake trans-national mobility when taking up their appointment - ie at the time of recruitment by the host organisation, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) within Italy for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date.
