About

I am Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Liverpool. The major focus of my research is the psychology of later life including the interplay between physical and mental health and social relationships. I am an expert in marital status, widowhood, bereavement and ecological resilience, particularly in informal caregiving. I am also conducting research into the psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic from a variety of perspectives. In addition, I am interested in breastfeeding and early parenthood.

From an education standpoint I am interested in curriculum development and innovation in psychology and more broadly.
