PRET administers the PGR Leadership Group (PGRLG). This steering group leads the development of the doctoral research environment and culture at the University of Liverpool.
Membership of PGRLG includes representation from the Faculties, Central Professional Services and the Guild of Students. The group ensures an integrated and inclusive approach to doctoral recruitment and the postgraduate research student experience. Central to this is a commitment to enhance and nurture our PGR students to become outstanding researchers. We prepare them by offering enhanced personal, professional, academic, and career development opportunities.
Our role is:
- To implement and promote the University’s strategy for postgraduate research provision as a core component of the University’s activities.
- To foster, support and promote a vibrant and inclusive postgraduate research environment and culture.
- To embed equality and diversity in all elements of postgraduate research.
- To support PGR student mental health and well-being initiatives and to provide tailored support and resources for our PGR community.
- To prioritise the PGR student experience. To promote a coordinated and consistent approach to PGR student provision and support across the University.
- To support the provision of innovative, structured and choice-led development. This includes a development programme that supports all PGR students with their ongoing professional and personal development.
- To embed postgraduate research into the University’s internationalisation and partnership strategy.
- To review policies and processes relating to PGR students by making recommendations to PGR Committee.
- To ensure that the University's resources, facilities and systems are appropriate for all PGR students.
- To ensure the availability of resources to build a collaborative and supportive environment for all.
