Research

Research Overview

I have specialist knowledge and interest in the area of research capacity building. This was the focus of doctoral level study. Currently I am part of a multi agency research project to evaluate the research capacity and culture (RCC) of the health and care workforce within Liverpool NHS hospital trusts.

I am also involved in collaborations with external agencies such as the Brain Charity, working with a group of M level students to complete an evaluation of a BBC Children in Need funded project. I confidently and competently support research growth within the School of Health Sciences (SHS) in UoL and contribute to projects such as the SHS Simulation project (HIPPOS) and the Remote Clinical Undergraduate Support project (CIRCUS). I am also a founding member of a multi agency working group that aims to build alliances, through knowledge exchange activities, and increase research capacity (NICRAM - Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Research in Cheshire and Merseyside).

I am a PhD research supervisor.

Research Interest 1

Pedagogic research. This includes using PBL as a teaching method, exploring the benefits of audio feedback for summative assessments, how to assess reflective assignments and I am currently involved in a project looking at the needs of students who are carers. I am also the Chair of the School of Health Scinces Student Experience Research Group.

Joint collobaration between the Directorate of Occupational Therapy and the two members of the education development team looking Audio Feedback. We are currently in the midst of a research project involving year 2 occupational therapy students and staff to understand more about the viability of using audio feedback within the formative assessment process.
