About

Prior to my current role as a Lecturer in Radiotherapy, I worked clinically as a Therapeutic Radiographer within the NHS, including at Royal Preston Hospital and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Liverpool. Whilst clinical, I completed my MSc at the University of Liverpool, which involved development of a novel eLearning tool aimed to educate Therapeutic Radiographers on the long-term effects of pelvic radiotherapy. Late effects of pelvic radiotherapy are my main area of research interest, and I am currently working on several projects in this field. I am a member of several late effects and Living with and Beyond Cancer networks, as well as being a UK member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS) based in the US, with a focus on long-term toxicities. I continue to collaborate with clinical colleagues to conduct clinically relevant research to benefit patients within the Liverpool City Region and Beyond. I am a reviewer for two journals: the "Journal of Radiotherapy in Practice" and "Clinical Oncology".

As a lecturer at the University of Liverpool, I am passionate about research-connected teaching. I currently lead the undergraduate pelvic oncology module and teach prostate and colorectal oncology on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. I embed my own research into my teaching, as well as findings from studies at the forefront of clinical research, ensuring students learn about current and evolving practice in the field. I also enjoy teaching interprofessional learning sessions, working with students from a range of healthcare professions.

Alongside my teaching and research roles, I am Practice Placement Co-Ordinator for the Radiotherapy programmes which involves supporting students through their clinical placements, liaising with clinical education teams and facilitating simulation-based placements at the University using VERT software.
