Research Overview

My research has focused on asymmetries and composition (where objects are placed and where they are facing). Studies have involved artworks spanning 8 centuries, (Bertamini, Bennett, Bode, 2011) and cross-cultural preferences for symmetry (Bode, Helmy, &Bertamini, 2017), films by Akira Kurosawa and other directors (Bertamini, Bode & Bruno, 2014; Bode, Bertamini, & Helmy, 2016), and the phenomenon of selfies (Bruno, Bode & Bertamini, 2016).
