Producing Resources To Optimise Management & Opportunity To Exercise for Head and Neck Cancer Patients
The PROMOTE-HN study is a doctoral research project investigating the uptake and promotion of physical activity for patients living with and beyond head and neck cancer in the North West of England, and North Wales. The project is sponsored by the University of Liverpool and is made up of the following four work packages:
The main aim of the research is to develop guidelines to inform the delivery of physical activity for head and neck cancer patients. The guidelines may be developed for both health care professionals and service users.

WORK PACKAGE 2 – HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS ONLY:
What is the aim of the research?
- To understand Health Care Professionals’knowledge, use and confidence in physical activity guidelines and assessment tools, and to understand the considerations required when prescribing physical activity to Head and Neck cancer patients.
- The overall aim of the research is to developguidelines to support Head and Neck Cancer patients to be physically active.
What is involved?
- You will be asked to complete an online survey taking approximately 15-20 minutes.
- You must be directlyinvolved in the care of Head and Neck Cancer patients and practise in the North West of England or North Wales to participate.

There are no right or wrong answers, we are simply interested in your experience.

WORK PACKAGE 3 – PATIENTS, CAREGIVERS & HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS:
What is the aim of the research?
- To understand knowledge, use and experience of physical activity prior to, during and after treatment for Head and Neck Cancer.
- The overall aim of the research is to develop guidelines to support Head and Neck Cancer patients to be physically active.
What is involved?
- Patients and Health Care Professionals will be asked to complete a short questionnaire and to take part in an ONLINE interview lasting approximately60 minutes. Caregivers will also be asked to take part in an ONLINE interview lasting approximately 60 minutes.
- Patients, caregivers and health care professionals must be based in the North West of England or North Wales to take part.
- Health Care Professionals must also be directlyinvolved in the care of Head and Neck Cancer patients and practise in the North West of England or North Wales to participate.
