Your peer mentor
Every first-year student at the Department of Psychology is assigned a Peer Mentor.
A Peer Mentor is a second or third-year student who will be able to share their experiences of their first year on their university course with you, and who may have faced similar worries, such as how to meet new friends.
Your Peer Mentor can provide you with lots of useful information about your course and the university, as well as information about local resources available in the city of Liverpool such as healthcare providers.
Lots of students have benefited from the support of Peer Mentors and gave the following feedback about the programme:
"My mentor always seems interested and happy to listen to whatever queries or problems I might have, however silly they might seem to me."
"It was great to talk to someone who had been in my situation before and knew how I felt."
You will find out more about the Peer Mentor programme and who your mentor is during the first week of your course.
Student newsletters
Every student at the Department of Psychology will receive a weekly Student Experience Newsletter in their email inbox.
The Student Experience Newsletter contains lots of useful information about activities and events at the Eleanor Rathbone Building and on campus, as well as information relating to academic support, wellbeing advice and guidance, careers and employability support, and opportunities for you to provide feedback about your course.
The Student Experience Newsletter is sent to students each Friday throughout semesters one and two, with monthly Student Experience Newsletters sent throughout the summer.
Students will also receive a monthly Careers and Employability newsletter from the department, containing information about job and volunteering opportunities, as well as career guidance available on campus and opportunities to attend careers fairs and meet employers.
