Attendance monitoring
Our teams are here to support you through your education, ensuring you understand the importance of your attendance and offering assistance when that attendance is not possible.
We want you to succeed at the University of Liverpool and attending timetabled teaching activities can play a crucial part in your future academic success. Good attendance will also help you become part of our vibrant learning community of staff and students, enabling you to take advantage of the wide range of academic support and other resources and activities available at the University.
By registering your attendance, we can make sure that you receive the right level of support throughout your time at the University, helping ensure you have an enjoyable student experience and perform to your full potential.
We also need an accurate record of your attendance in order to meet:
- Student Finance requirements and verify your eligibility for student loans during the academic year (if you receive these).
- Our obligations under the Data Protection Act to hold accurate data on student registration.
- UKVI Home Office requirements and to continue to be able to sponsor your student visa (if you have one).
That’s why it is important that you complete the student registration process for all of your timetabled sessions, both on-campus in-person activities as well as online sessions, delivered via MS Teams or Zoom.
Should we have a concern about your attendance, we will contact you to find out what is happening and help you get back on track. Depending on what you tell us, we may refer you for additional support and guidance. See the Student Attendance Policy for more details.
We understand that there may be occasions where you cannot attend the University. Please see the Absence section for details on the steps you should take to notify the University about this.
How to register your attendance
- Registering your attendance via the Timetables mobile app: video guidance and downloadable guide.
- Registering your attendance via the online Timetables (browser version): video guidance and downloadable guide.
You should never share an attendance code with students who haven’t attended a particular session. Falsifying attendance records will stop us from being able to identify which students may need additional support in their studies and it may constitute misconduct. For further information, please read the policy on student conduct and discipline.
How to request an absence
- Requesting an absence via the student intranet.
- Requesting an absence via the My Liverpool mobile app.
- Step-by-step user guide (PDF).
Remember: You should not use the absence system to request an absence during an assessment or exam period. Please contact your School/Department for more information.
