Dr Idalmis Santiesteban won Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) 'Teacher of the Year' at the Guild Awards 2024 on Thursday 9 May.
Dr Santiesteban is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Psychology, and was one of three members of staff from the Institute of Population Health to be nominated for HLS 'Teacher of the Year', alongside Dr Caroline Hands and Dr Dimitrios Charalampopoulos.
Being nominated for the award is one of the most significant accolades, as staff are nominated by students for the Guild Awards, reflecting the impact that these teachers have on the learning journey and experience of their students.
Speaking about winning the award, Dr Santiesteban said: "This award is amazing and totally unexpected.
"I have a passion for teaching and love connecting with my students, so this is truly special because it is about the students acknowledging the work we do."
She concluded: "Thank you to the students who put my name forward."
