Students from the Department of Psychology met with employers from across the country at Psych Futures 2023, our annual Careers Fair.
Held on Wednesday 1 November, employers from a range of sectors spoke to students about opportunities with their companies and charities and offered top tips for employability.
Speaking about the opportunity to meet employers at the fair, Psychology student Eve said: "Before I came here, I had no idea of all the companies who offered all of these opportunities. Places like Caring Services have been really easy to talk to and telling me about all these opportunities I could gain from my degree.
"Also learning about different charities, how they help the community and how I can get involved has been really useful."
Students also had a chance to grow their network at the event by meeting potential employers, along with gaining advice and support from the University's Careers and Employability Services.
Employers at Psych Futures 2023 included:
- Merseyside Police
- Kooth
- Digital Health Teaching Personnel
- NSPCC
- BDO
- Lagan's Foundation

Reflecting on the event, Employability and Student Placement Coordinator Elaine Fairhurst said: "Psych Futures Career Fair was held in the social space of the Eleanor Rathbone Building. There were 14 employers in attendance, offering a range of opportunities including voluntary work, placements and grad jobs.
"The atmosphere was relaxed, despite there being a steady flow of students, which was perfect for networking. Employers also commented that they were able to have meaningful conversations about career pathways."
