Department of Psychology staff won multiple awards at the Institute for Population Health (IPH) Staff Awards 2023.
Staff and Researchers from across IPH attended an institute away day on Thursday 29th June, which featured talks from guest speakers and the first ever IPH Staff Awards ceremony.
The IPH Staff Awards recognised the hard work and dedication of Institute Staff and Researchers across several categories- including Department of Psychology staff who won a total of six awards.
Winners included the Psychology and IPH Student Experience Team, who won the Team: Special Recognition award.
The team were nominated for "providing a friendly, professional and supportive service for both academic staff and students in the ERB (Eleanor Rathbone Building) and across the wider Institute.”
Department of Psychology School Manager and IPH Student Experience Manager Jackie Bradshaw said: “I’m delighted that the Student Experience Team were firstly nominated and then secondly won the award!
“I’m hugely proud of the team and the dedicated support that they offer to all the programmes that we support, which are across four Departments. I’m also hugely proud of the support that they offer each other.”
The Individual Excellence Award was given to Department of Psychology and IPH Student Experience Team Leader Helen Hubbard, who was nominated for “going out of their way to support the wellbeing of her team through creative and collaborative events, anchor days and fundraising activities which have raised thousands of pounds for charity.”
Following the ceremony, Helen said: “What a wonderful surprise to win this award!
“I am incredibly grateful and appreciative to receive it, but this achievement would not have been possible without the support and team spirit of each and every member of staff I work with in the SEO (Student Experience Office).
“I am truly blessed to work alongside people who make my working day enjoyable and who contribute to a fun, hardworking and supportive culture within the office.”
Helen continued to praise the Student Experience Team as she said: “I am delighted that our exceptional team won an award.
“This is a testament to the remarkable talent, dedication, and collaborative spirit that defines our team. The team in the Student Experience Office work tirelessly to provide support to staff and students and I am so pleased this has been recognised.”
The Individual Excellence Award was also given to Thomas Castling.
Further awards for the Department of Psychology included Individual Contribution to Student Experience, which was given to Dr Sara Waring.
Dr Vicky Fallon won the Excellence Award – Research, while Research Associate Dr Moon Wilton was awarded PDRA/ECR of the Year.
Completing the wins for the Department of Psychology was Caroline Hands, who was given the Individual Special Recognition award for “working tirelessly to improve student experience and wellbeing, helping to ensure that all students reach their full potential irrespective of their background or personal circumstances.”
