Aims and interests
We investigate a wide range of research topics in the UK and comparatively from a qualitative and quantitative perspective, combining approaches from political science, political history, political philosophy, political communication, and psychology.
We study
- British politics and the politics of Northern Ireland at the national and local levels, including devolution and Brexit
- Comparative political behaviour: public opinion; political representation; party positions; elections and voting behaviour, the electoral process and the voting age debate, political engagement in gender, youth and marginalised communities, health and political attitudes and behaviour and populism
- Political parties: party organisation; leadership; leader and candidate selection; political rhetoric and oratory
- Public policy: policy agendas, policy learning and diffusion
- Media: agendas, coverage, framing and effects.
Our aims
- We are committed to attracting funding and producing solid research that results in high-quality and high-impact publications and outputs
- We are committed to hosting stimulating conferences and events which attract the attention of academics, students, members of the wider community, media and policymakers. We run an Online Seminar Series inviting early career and more experienced speakers who are experts in their research topics.
