Aims & Interests
We investigate a wide range of research topics associated with Chian and how it interacts with the world and the world interacts with China. The group uses and encourages any interest in either a qualitative and quantitative perspective, and often finds its activities combining approaches from political science, international relations, comparative politics, area studies, political philosophy, political sociology.
We study:
- Chinese internal political dynamics – particularly the growing independence of cities and towns;
- The role of culture in the role of politics and political decision making in different provinces and regions across China
- The role of policy transfer in the Chinese context
- The role that China is starting to play in international politics – particularly in Africa and African politic;
- The growing conflict between China and the West – particularly the United States
- The public policy: policy agendas; policy learning and diffusion
Our aims:
- We are committed to furthering the study of China and its growing influence at home and abroad
- We are committed to attract funding and produce solid research that results in high-quality and high-impact publications and outputs.
- We are committed to host stimulating events which attract attention of academics, students, members of the wider University of Liverpool community, media and policymakers.
- We run an Online Seminar Series inviting early career and more experienced speakers who are experts in their research topics to engage with each other.
