This Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) study involved interviews with 1,810 electors across Northern Ireland on a range of voting and other political issues and took place in the five weeks immediately following the General Election. The survey was carried out by Social Market Research Belfast.
The Principal Investigator was Professor Jon Tonge (Liverpool) and co-investigators were Professor Peter Shirlow (Liverpool) Professor Jocelyn Evans (Leeds) Professor Bernadette Hayes (Aberdeen) and Dr Paul Mitchell (LSE).
Results from the survey have been analysed in a range of academic papers and media outlets, including The Guardian, Westminster Hour on BBC Radio 4 and the Northern Irish press.
