I was very fortunate to study at the University of Liverpool, graduating from the Department of Politics in 2018 with a first-class Politics BA (Hons) degree.
At school, I always felt academically unfulfilled and constantly frustrated by a perceived lack of ownership over my own future. I was unsure if higher education was for me, but after attending the University of Liverpool during an opening day, I was immediately impressed by the quality of the teaching and the interest the lecturers had in the success of their students. Liverpool became my first choice on my UCAS application, and to this day, I feel privileged to have studied there and proud of the university as international representative of my hometown of Liverpool.
During my third year, the Department of Politics offered me the opportunity to work for my local member of parliament through an industrial placement, allowing me to transfer political theory into practice and gain the critical skills necessary for the workplace. Seeing first-hand the positive difference politics can make in Britain, I went on to intern in public affairs soon after graduating, making policy and political advocacy not just my interest, but my profession.
Six years after graduating, I still don’t have an exact career plan, but I am comfortable that I am fully equipped to achieve my potential and see it as my duty to use the platform I have built to secure the kind of positive change I think Britain needs.
