Caitlin McIsaac
Caitlin graduated in 2019 and now works as the the Constituency Caseworker for Sharon Hodgson, the Member of Parliament for Washington and Sunderland West.
From 2016 to 2019 I had the pleasure of studying my undergraduate degree in Politics at the University of Liverpool. Admittedly, before moving into my fresher’s accommodation, I had only visited Liverpool once during an Open Day, but I immediately fell in love with the University and I knew it was where I wanted to pursue my studies.
Reflecting on my academic journey, I found courses like ‘Aspects of Media and Politics’, ‘Gender and Global Politics’, and ‘Theories of Poverty and Wealth’ particularly engaging. I have fond memories of the insightful lectures and seminars held by Neil Gavin and Claire Pierson.
With the support of the University, I secured an internship within the Public Relations Department of Liverpool Football Club for my ‘Volunteering and Experience’ module in second-year. As one would imagine, this was a unique work placement which provided me with insight into the world of public affairs.
Currently, I am the Constituency Caseworker for Sharon Hodgson, the Member of Parliament for Washington and Sunderland West. Sharon’s role is to represent her constituents in Parliament, and it is my responsibility to assist her in fulfilling this duty. I believe that my studies provided me with a wealth of knowledge and transferrable skills that I apply to my everyday work.
