Caden Lunness
Caden Lunness is now the Policy and Public Affairs Executive at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI).
I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2024 with a BA in Politics, a degree that sharpened my academic abilities and provided me with lifelong skills necessary for any successful career.
Throughout my time at University, I worked full-time in Parliament for two MPs – Secretary of State, the Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, and Alexander Stafford MP. These roles gave me an unparalleled understanding of parliament and UK politics, far beyond what most of my peers possessed. I’m proud to say I graduated with more political experience than 99% of my peers, and I urge anyone in their first, second, or third year to get their foot in the door early – the benefits are immeasurable.
During my time at Liverpool, I found modules such as Contemporary Parliamentary Studies (POLI304), Political Communication and Public Speaking (POLI252), and Local Government in the UK (POLI337) especially interesting. Dr Andrew Roe-Crines, Dr David Jeffery, and Professor Andrew Russell were not only outstanding academics but also incredibly down-to-earth and decent people. Their approachable, personable nature made Liverpool the right choice for me, and their support helped me thrive both academically and personally.
Outside of my career and studies, I served as the Corporate Outreach Officer and Vice President of the Politics Society, where I developed skills in public speaking, organisation, and event coordination, while also forming lifelong friendships.
I’m now the Policy and Public Affairs Executive at the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), where I work closely with MPs, Ministers, and stakeholders to advance UK trading standards.
