Physics Outreach Student Group
Who are we and what do we do?
We are a group of enthusiastic young scientists who volunteer our time to share our love of all things physics! Based on our various experiences, we have designed workshops and talks for school pupils and the public which have a focus on interaction and exploration of the subject linking to exciting and pioneering research.
We pride ourselves on our innovation and flexibility to adapt to the needs of particular groups/classes and have now presented physics to audiences from 9 months to 90 years of age, in both primary and secondary schools, youth clubs/groups, universities, museums and festivals.
Our sessions are designed to deliver physics topics in a fun and interactive way demonstrating that physics is a stimulating and fascinating subject that can provide an individual with skills and knowledge that can also be applied to almost any career.
Our motto is that you are never too young to start learning about physics, and never too old to stop.
This has resonated with our members such that those who have graduated with their physics degree, still return to help with events when possible as they enjoy it so much! Former members have gone on to work in IT, teaching, engineering, graduate programmes and some have continued on with research in physics.
