UK strategy for engagement with CERN launched
The UK Strategy for Engagement with CERN was launched by the Secretary of State for Science Innovation and Technology, the Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP at Daresbury yesterday. Drafted by STFC and DSIT, with a foreword from the Minister for Science, George Freeman MP, it focuses on unlocking the full potential of UK membership of CERN. We have been a strong partner of CERN for a long time, and you will be delighted to see this nicely depicted in the document, where the University of Liverpool is prominently shown as a case study for our work on ATLAS, LHCb and ALICE, as a key partner of Daresbury and the Cockcroft Institute in accelerator science. This is certainly a strong recognition of the excellent work and engagement with CERN.
The next step is to draw up an implementation plan with specific goals, activities and measurable targets, and our particle, nuclear and accelerator groups will continue to engage. And if you have ideas, do not hesitate to get in touch with your team leaders!
