Frequently Asked Questions

Registration & Timetabling

How do I register for modules?

New students are required to choose their optional modules during academic registration. Further information can be found here: Academic registration - University of Liverpool. Students will automatically be registered for modules that are required on their programme of study.

For information regarding which modules are available on your programme, please consult the relevant department pages. Please note, students taking a combined degree will need to check the programme requirements for both sides of their programme.

How many credits should I be registered for?

Undergraduate students should be registered for 120 credits per academic year and full-time postgraduate students should be registered for 180 credits per academic year. Credits can differ across part-time postgraduate programmes, so please consult your specific programme structure for further information.

Ordinarily, students should be registered for an equal split of credits across both semesters. For example, UG students should take 60 credits in semester 1 and 60 credits in semester 2.

Can I change my module registration?

If you wish to make any changes to your modules, you will need to complete a module change request form here:  Request to change a module Request to change a module- School of the Arts Intranet (Students) - University of Liverpool. The deadline to submit a change request form for Semester 1 is Thursday 3rd October at 12.00pm.

We will contact you to inform you whether it has been possible to process your change request. Students must continue to attend all activities on their timetable and should only begin attending their new module once we have confirmed you have been registered and your timetable has updated.

How do I view my timetable?

Timetables can be accessed via the Timetable Portal - My Timetable (liverpool.ac.uk). Your timetable should have updated within 48 hours of registering for your optional modules. Please note, any module changes will also take up to 48 hours to update in your online timetable. Students are advised to only access their timetable via the portal and should not print out paper versions. The Timetable Portal is live and will show any time/location changes to your scheduled activity.

If your timetable has not updated within 48 hours of registering for a module, please contact sotatt@liverpool.ac.uk.

Can I change a teaching session on my timetable?

Requests to change timetabled teaching sessions/groups will not be considered unless you have a timetable clash or an appointment that cannot be moved. It may not always be possible to change your session/group and in these instances, you may need to change to an alternative module instead. Timetable changes will not be considered if you would like to change session/groups to a preferred time, different teaching staff or if you would like to move to be in the same group as a friend.
