About

Before moving to Liverpool, Tom taught philosophy, critical theory, and cultural studies for ten years at the University of Brighton. Much of his published work has centred around the theoretical writings of Guy Debord and the Situationist International, with a particular focus on reconstructing the philosophical bases of Debord’s theory of ‘spectacle’. His current research explores the possibility of developing the broadly Hegelian notions of social pathology that that reconstruction revealed. His interests include aesthetics, political philosophy, Marxism, critical theory, cultural studies, and visual culture.
