MA Team win Culture in Crisis Employability Challenge with Rave, Reuse, Repeat

Published on

Students on the MA in Art, Philosophy and Cultural Institutions have won the Culture in Crisis Employability Challenge. Ada Malegowska, Beatrice Wright, Alex Norman and Alexandra Berry, presented a guide to sustainable events: Rave Reuse Repeat. You can watch their video here.

Here Ada explains more:

“Culture in Crisis was a live brief set by One Fell Swoop as part of an Employability Challenge in Semester 1. We were tasked with developing a viable yet creative idea to help Liverpool retain its reputation as a cultural powerhouse.

Working in a small group of MA Art, Philosophy, and Cultural Institutions students, we created a sustainability guide, Rave, Reuse, Repeat. This guide offers a checklist of actions that can be incorporated into event design relating to event location, audience, food & drink, ticketing, waste, and audience transport. While tailored for the music industry, it is relevant to all creative industries, providing strategies that promote business and environmental sustainability. One of the benefits to following the guide is an increased chance of securing financial support from funding bodies that prioritise these aspects. The extra funding, in turn, ensures that events can continue and, therefore, Liverpool is more likely retain its reputation as a cultural powerhouse.

This challenge was a unique experience and a valuable addition to our CVs, as it provided the opportunity to practice our creative thinking, research, and teamwork skills in a professional context.”
