PhD at University of Liverpool – call for applicants; AHRC studentships
The Department of Philosophy invites applications for its PhD programme. Our PhD students are a central part of our research community of our department, contributing to our work in progress seminars, research projects, undergraduate teaching and social activities. We have a dedicated department library, common room and PGR office. The department is part of the School of the Arts, which offers many opportunities for training, interdisciplinary work and support.
The Department of Philosophy at Liverpool has a long history of combining research excellence in core areas of philosophy with innovative work at the frontiers of the discipline. We have particular strengths in: philosophy and the future; metaphysics of mind; philosophy of psychiatry; aesthetics; history of analytic philosophy; philosophy of science and society; religion and spirituality (including non-Western traditions); legal philosophy and political philosophy; Hellenistic and neo-Platonic philosophy. University of Liverpool is a member of the AHRC Northwest Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership (NWC DTP). AHRC PhD studentships are open to both home and international students. In addition to their open studentships, the NWC DTP offers three ring-fenced studentships.
Global Majority or Global Majority heritage studentship – open to a Global Majority or Global Majority heritage candidate. This studentship is available for Home candidates.
Broken Pipeline studentship – for candidates who feel that they are from groups or backgrounds that are underrepresented within UK Higher Education and experience barriers to access and participation.
Female Philosopher Global Majority studentship –for Female candidates who are Global Majority or Global Majority heritage. This studentship is available for Home and International candidates.
