Success for Philosophy in the University Staff Awards 2017
Dr Yiota Vassilopoulou and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences & Partnerships and Innovation team scooped the award for Partnership of the Year for the Tate Exchange partnership.
Tate Exchange offers a space for an ongoing programme of events developed by artists, practitioners, and associates. It is a place where everyone is invited to collaborate, test ideas and discover new perspectives on life, through art.
Both the School of Architecture and the Department of English join the Department of Philosophy in delivering public facing projects under the Tate Exchange scheme.
Dr Vassilopoulou, SoTA External Partnerships Research Lead; Tate Exchange Academic Lead, said of the award:
We were all really delighted to be honoured with the Partnership of the Year award; led by Kate Spicer (Business Gateway), the partnership with Tate Liverpool has given colleagues and students in the School of the Arts invaluable opportunities to showcase and develop a broad range of pioneering research and public engagement activities in collaboration with a world leading cultural institution, which we hope will lead to many more exciting projects in the future.
The judging panel comprised staff from across the University and this year received a record number of nominations - just under 400.
As part of the partnership, all University of Liverpool staff and students receive free admission to exhibitions at Tate galleries, with 10% discount in the café and shop.
