Standardised clinical case definitions for neurological manifestations of COVID-19

Clinical definitions for neurological manifestations of COVID-19, created to set up the UK COVID-19 neurological registry and the COVID-19 Clinical Neuroscience Study (COVID-CNS).

See the link to the right for the 'Case definitions for neurological syndromes associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection' to be used as a tool in association with the 10 case vignettes validated by members of the Global Neuro Research Coalition.

The definitions are expert consensus definitions and were validated for use in the following publication:

Global uncertainty in the diagnosis of neurological complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection by both neurologists and non-neurologists: An international inter-observer variability study - Journal of the Neurological Sciences (jns-journal.com)

The list of the definitions mirrors that of the World Health Organization (WHO) Acute COVID-19 case report form and can be used as a supplement to this.

When to use?

Clinical research, data collection, neurological training.
