Study Aims

  • To externally validate and calibrate the SEIZUre Risk in Encephalitis (SEIZURE) score in international cohorts before it can be used in clinical trials.
  • To improve the scoring system with additional parameters.

How is the Coalition involved?
Coalition member have been asked to prospectively or retrospectively apply the SEIZURE score to their patient cohorts via a data collection tool. 

Progress so far
Writing up stage: data collection is complete with over 2000 patients from 13 countries captured. Manuscript is drafted.

Defining the uncovered nature of infection-related headaches accompanying various infections: a prospective cross-sectional study (INFECT-HEAD Study)

Study Aims

  • Investigate the characteristics, time course, severity, and location of headaches associated with various acute systemic and local infections.
  • Define the differentiating features according to the underlying infection type.

How is the Coalition involved?
Coalition members have been asked to join this prospective international collaborative study by providing cases and will be able to provide feedback to the potential publications.

Recruitment phase: 160 cases already captured.

Literature update and meta-analysis of post-COVID-19 neurological manifestations

Aims

  • Update our review published in Neuroepidemiology 2024 (see Publications), focusing on selected neurological manifestations i.e. seizures, multiple sclerosis, headache, etc…
  • The final products will focus on the prevalence of persistent neurological manifestations in people affected by Covid-19 at different follow-up time points; the incidence of new neurological manifestations after the acute phase; and possibly the frequency of other disease-specific features.

How is the Coalition involved?
Coalition members are invited to contribute in the literature review, and to participate in the focused disease-specific studies.

Progress so far
Scoping phase: information has been circulated to the members seeking contributors.
