The Merseyside Ringing Group (MRG) will be doing a bird ringing demonstration at Ness. Learn about how and why we ring birds, what the data is used for, and have the opportunity to see some of the birds who've made Ness their home.
There's no need to book for this event. The activity is included in admission to the gardens. Please note, bird ringing is weather dependent and bird sightings cannot be guaranteed.
If you'd like to learn more, Dr Becky Verspoor, a Lecturer in the School of Biosciences, has written an introduction to the fascinating world of bird ringing.
Bird Song and Breakfast
Rise and shine. Take a walk with our expert guides as they act as navigators through the beautiful backdrop of Ness Gardens, helping you to spot different species of bird. Make sure to bring some binoculars with you if you have them.The gardens provide homes and food to 84 species of birds from winter visitors such as fieldfare through to permanent residents such as chaffinches, song thrushes & tree sparrows and summer visitors like house martins and the spotted flycatcher. The morning consists of an early morning walk starting at 7am, in the gardens with an expert birder on hand to answer questions and help identify the birds followed by breakfast on your return to the Visitor Centre.

Who is it suitable for?
Anyone with a keen interest in birds.
Children 8 years and older, must be accompanied by an adult.
The walk around the garden will last approximately 2 hours, the ground can be uneven in places.

£18.00 Members, £20.00 Non-Members.
