Ness Botanic Gardens Flower Show 2024

There is no need to pre-book, Members entries are free and Non-members 50p per entry to be taken on the day by cash. Members and volunteers: please remember to bring your Membership or volunteer card with you.

Schedule for Saturday 7th September 2024
8.30am – 10.00am       Arrival, registration and display of item (s).
10.00am – 11.00am    Judging
11.00am – 3.30pm      Show open to the public
3.30pm – 4.00pm        Presentations
4.00pm - 4.30pm        Collection of exhibits

 

Classes and Categories:

Class A - Fruit and Vegetables 

Judging criteria: condition, size and shape.

Items should fit on a plate sized a maximum of 30cm across, except categories 4,5 and 6.

 

Class B - Baking and Preserves 

Judging criteria: Taste, Appearance, Shape

Victoria Sandwich

30 cm x 30 cm round, two tiers, no icing or decoration

Lemon Drizzle Cake and Ginger Cake

2 lb loaf, single tier, no icing or decoration

Homemade Savoury Quiche

25 cm round, cm high

Jam, chutney, honey

A volume of no less than 50 grams and no more than 250 grams.

 

Class C - Flowers and Plants

Judging criteria: Condition, Appearance, Colour

Items should be displayed either in a vase or container no taller than 30cm in height or 35cm in width and depth.

 

Class D - Children's Submissions

Judging criteria: Appearance, Colour, Creativity

The items should be made solely by the child. Please write the child's age on the back of the piece. 

 

Class E - Photography

Judging criteria: composition, quality, relevance.

Items should be no larger than A4 in size and need to be unframed

 

Class F- Handicraft

Judging criteria: creativity, appearance and quality.

Items should be no larger than A3 in size, or 30cm x 30cm.

 

Certificates will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class. Prizes will be awarded for ‘Best in Show’, ‘Best in Category’ and for the heritage classes marked with an asterisk.
