Apple, pears and many soft fruits such as currants and gooseberries all benefit from pruning in the winter to ensure a good cycle of fruiting stems. Plants that are not pruned become less productive and congested with older branches.
We'll start with an introduction covering the basics of what, where, when, why and how you prune fruit. You'll then head out into the gardens for some practical experience.
The workshop is suitable for anyone aged 18 or above who's interested in gardening. Please bring a pair of secateurs and gardening gloves if you have them.
Dates and times
The fruit pruning workshop is taking place on Saturday 1 February 2025, from 10am-3pm.
