Ness Botanic Gardens is located approximately 17 miles south of Liverpool and 10 miles north west of Chester, on Neston Road. You'll find us nestled between the villages of Ness and Burton.

Whether you're travelling to Ness by road, rail or the National Cycle Network, we've got you covered. The gardens are also extensively signposted. 

By car or coach

Travelling from Liverpool

Take the M53 to junction 4 and follow the brown signs.

Travelling from Chester

Join the A540 out of Chester and follow the brown signs.

Travelling from Manchester

Take the M56 to the end of the motorway, leaving the dual carriageway at the A540 exit. Take the third exit at the roundabout to join the A540, then follow the brown signs. 

Travelling from North Wales

Take the A550 turn off (signposted Birkenhead) from the A494, turn left onto the A540, and follow the brown signs.

Public transport

By bus

The 487 bus runs from Liverpool to Ness Botanic Gardens every half an hour, Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, the 488 bus follows the same route. Both services are operated by Arriva.

The 22 bus runs between Chester and West Kirby every hour, Monday to Saturday. Alighting at the Royal Oak public house in Little Neston, it's just under a mile's walk to Ness. The 22 service is operated by Al’s Coaches.

By train

If travelling by train, alight at Neston Station on the Bidston to Wrexham line and transfer to the 487 bus (Monday to Saturday) or 488 bus (Sundays).

Cycling

We're located approximately two miles south of national cycle route 56 and the Wirral Way. We're also approximately one mile north of national cycle route 568.

Bicycle racks are available at Ness to secure your bike when you reach us.
