During your visit

A range of food and drink is available from our Botanic Kitchen café. You'll also find a range of plants and other items in our gift and plant shop.

While you're visiting us, we ask that all guests are considerate of other people's space, including other visitors and staff. All children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Dogs

Only registered service or assistance dogs are allowed in the Visitor Centre and gardens. However, dogs are more than welcome on our dog-friendly patio next to the Botanic Kitchen.

Plants and wildlife

We encourage to walk on the grass and explore the gardens. Please don't, however, walk through areas of long grass or planted areas. We also ask that you don't climb, pick, or remove any plants from the gardens.

Ness is home to a wide range of wildlife from fungus and insects to birds and mammals. Please respect their home. The loss of, or damage to, plants and wildlife habitat is also upsetting for our staff and volunteers who skilfully and diligently care for our collections.

Picnics, toys and radios

Ness is a brilliant place for picnics and we encourage you to have a picnic in the gardens. However please don't bring barbecues or furniture. Ball games, bicycles, tricycles, roller skates, skateboards, micro-scooters are also not permitted.

To help all our visitors enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Ness, please don't bring radios, music players and musical instruments into the gardens, unless you're listening to music with headphones.

Drones

Drones and other remotely controlled aircraft are not allowed.

Smoking

For the health and welfare of our visitors, we operate a no-smoking policy, including e-cigarettes, in all buildings, outdoor eating areas and the children’s play area. This may extend to other areas of the garden in periods of very dry weather.
